Symbolism & Inspiration

1. Quetzalcoatl

Among the most powerful of the creator gods: the embodiment of great knowledge and wisdom. The first appearance of the feathered serpent dates back to the third century.

2. Feathered Tail

I sculpted this synthesis of bird and serpent such that he flies in a circle, devouring his own tail. A symbol of great wisdom, unity, and eternity, through the cycle of life and death.

Ancient Azteca-inspired patterns sculpted throughout every surface of the ring. What could they mean?

I am not interested in saving time and money by leaving surfaces blank. Even the inside is etched with another Azteca-inspired pattern. And it's still comfortable as the relief is very shallow (just enough to see.

2. Quetzalcoatl

I wanted to include a hint of original Azteca art instead of only my own touch. The great god of wisdom can be seen here in profile form, similar to how he was depicted in ancient art.

3. Warrior

Wisdom alone is not enough. The inside harbors a secret symbol: one of great courage. Being a warrior-culture, the warrior was the backbone of old Azteca society. Fueled by the strength of the sun, he prays to Quetzalcoatl atop the pyramid's ledge. If you look extremely closely, you might see that the weapon he holds is a Macuahuitl (obsidian-bladed sword).
